We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our expanding accountancy practice in Kilmarnock.

This exciting opportunity would suit a dynamic, flexible and motivated individual. Our accountancy practice provides varied and interesting work, delivering a friendly and proactive year-round service to small businesses and personal taxpayers in the local area.

The successful candidate will report to the Practice Owner and be involved with all aspects of accountancy, taxation and client relationships. TaxAssist Accountants is the largest small business accountancy network in the UK, with over 400 locations and industry-leading support and systems.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Role:

The key duties of the post are as follows:

• Preparation of statutory financial statements

• Preparation of corporation, partnership & personal tax returns

• Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns under MTD

• External client training on Quickbooks

• Client bookkeeping

Candidate Profile:

Suitable candidates must have:

• A minimum of 1 years practice experience within an accountancy firm

• Excellent communication skills and demonstrate an enthusiastic, customer-focused approach

• A proactive, positive and self-motivated attitude with a problem-solving mindset

• Strong IT skills, with experience in practice software, including QuickBooks and Xero

• The ability to adapt to new software, systems and regulatory changes

• Ability to take responsibility for all aspects of technical work


• Salary: £22,000 – £26,000 depending on experience

• 28 days annual leave (FTE) plus bank holidays (pro rate if part time)
