A small accountancy practice in Wickford, part of a dynamic national network, has an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Accounts Assistant /Bookkeeper to deal with all aspects of accountancy, taxation and client relationships.
We are looking for a flexible, dynamic, driven individual to join a small friendly team. This is a pivotal role in the business with a high degree of autonomy, reporting to the practice owner. This role will ensure a high level of technical expertise and quality service is provided to an expanding client base.

The suitable candidate must have:
• AAT qualified / studying towards AAT/ACA/ACCA qualification (or similar) or qualified by experience.
• Practice experience preferred but good bookkeeping experience will be considered.
• Good up to date technical knowledge
• Client facing or customer service experience
• Excellent communication skills and be able to develop relationships with clients.
• Ability to take responsibility for all aspects of technical work.
• Good IT experience including practice management software, QuickBooks, Sage and Xero
• Ability to adapt to new software, systems and regulatory changes.
Work will include providing the Full range of accountancy work including:
• Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Preparation of self-assessment tax returns, for individuals, sole traders, property income and partnerships
• Preparation, submission and administration of VAT returns
• Preparing payroll and CIS submissions
• Bookkeeping and other services as well as attending to incoming clients and dealing with general admin work with the potential to take on further responsibilities in the future.
• Networking on behalf of the business when required

• Salary from £12,600 per annum (for 21 hours per week and negotiable depending on experience)
