St. Jarlath’s Credit Union is inviting applications for the position of Lending Officer.

Role Description:
Work as part of the lending team dealing with incoming lending queries and the issuing of new loans to members. Maintain a quality service to members and colleagues. Promote the products and services that are relevant to the particular member. Role reports to the Lending Manager (LM).
Role Attributes
The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal and communication skills. Lending experience an advantage. A broad knowledge of the portfolio of lending services on offer to include an understanding of the credit policy, legislation & compliance pertaining to Credit Unions. Analytical skills and organisational skills are essential. Output and outcome focused.
Key Functions
· Engage with members to discuss their lending query
· Ensure members are attended to in a timely and efficient manner, whether via waiting room or on incoming phone calls, or by way of leads from the marketing channels
· Advise members on document requirements
· Assist members with the drawdown of their loans and repayment plans
· Discuss loan cases with other lending officers
· Loan underwriting
· Maintain strong team ethic and group morale
· Provide feedback to LM as to any recommended changes to work practices
Other Functions
· Develop a knowledge of our lending products
· Learn to identify urgent applications
· Decide on applications within an agreed approval limit. This limit will be subject to recommendation from LM and Credit committee approval
· Engage with members at every opportunity to ensure we provide an excellent member experience
· Ensure that members financial needs beyond any requested loan are identified and where possible a relevant product / service is recommended e.g., current account / best advice.
· Any other duties as outlined by LM
