The credit union is inviting applications for the role of Member Services/Loans Officer, on a part-time, permanent basis.

Contract Status: Part time Permanent Contract
(19 hours – Tuesday to Saturday inclusive)
 

 

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the CEO and Operations Manager, the Member Services/Loans Officer performs a dual role within the credit union, working as part of the member services team, while also being part of the Lending Team, as directed by the Office Manager.
 
The Loans Officer will play a key role in the continued enhancement, development, and delivery of the credit union’s lending services.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing financial assistance to our valued members while delivering high-quality member care.
 

Main responsibilities:
  • Assess and approve loan applications including personal, business and Agri loans.
  • Prepare and present complex loan applications.
  • Undertake a wide range of administrative duties associated with the operation of the lending function.
  • Contribute to the development of the credit union’s loan products and offerings.
  • Actively participate in the management of lending risk and exposures.
  • Design and implement strategies to ensure the achievement of growth objectives.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of credit union products and services, members needs and competitor offerings.
  • Contribute to the Development of a marketing strategy both traditional and online.
  • Develop information literature and online content to educate and promote the services of the credit union.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with individuals, groups, and businesses.
  • Develop formal and informal links with employers, schools, voluntary and statutory bodies, and other organisations.
  • Develop policies and procedures in relation to the provision of new and existing services.

 
In general, the successful candidate will also:

  • Approach daily tasks with energy, engagement, and enthusiasm.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Voluntarily put forward suggestions for improvements.
  • Possess good IT skills, and will have experience of using a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills, including good telephone skills.
  • Be a team player, who enjoys working with both colleagues and in a customer-facing role.
  • Be willing to undertake training to achieve ‘minimum competence’ requirements, as set by the Central Bank of Ireland for the credit union sector, which may be amended from time to time.
The Person:

In performing both the member services and lending officer role, the successful candidate:
 

  • Must hold a relevant lending/underwriting qualification that satisfies the minimum competency requirements of the Central Bank of Ireland such as QFA or APA in Lending or Professional Certificate in Consumer Credit (APA).

  • A minimum of three years’ relevant lending experience.

  • Strong underwriting skills.

  • Experience of business and Agri lending would be an advantage.

  • Marketing experience would be an advantage.

  • Excellent IT, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

  • Strong report writing and administrative skills.

The Member Services Officer provides an efficient service to our members and is accountable for carrying out a range of administrative and operational activities that contribute to the effective running of the credit union, including responsibility for member services and transactions, cash handling and reconciliations, and general office duties.
