Nenagh Credit Union Limited are inviting applications for the position of Senior Mortgage/Loans Officer, on a fulltime, permanent basis. Nenagh Credit Union wish to appoint a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to this position. Nenagh Credit Union has experienced significant growth in our Personal Lending Book in recent years and we intend to commence providing Mortgages to our Members in the coming months.
GENERAL SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reporting to the CEO and Head of Lending, the Senior Mortgage/Loans Officer will support the Credit Union in the launch of our Mortgage Product and will have key responsibility for assessing members’ applications for Mortgages in adherence to the Credit Union’s lending policies and procedures, and in accordance with responsible lending practices. While their primary focus will be on Mortgage Lending the Senior Mortgage/Loans Officer will support the Lending Team in several ways, including assessing Personal Loan Applications. assisting in the areas of policy, lending strategy and loan product development, along with contributing to the smooth operation of the lending function by undertaking related administrative and organisational tasks and Business Development.
More specifically, he/she will:

Assess member Mortgage and Loan applications in accordance with lending policy and procedures, operating strictly within the specified limits of authority, practicing responsible lending in accordance with the credit union ethos and working closely with the Credit Union Management Team.

Support Members through their Mortgage Journey from their initial query to getting Mortgage Ready through to Completion and Mortgage Issue.

Communicate effectively with and assist members regarding their mortgage and loan applications in person, by telephone and by various online/electronic means in line with the ethos of the Nenagh Credit Union.

Maintaining up to date market knowledge and information on the mortgage market and mortgage related products.

Lead by example in the delivery of the Credit Unions Principles and Values with a particular focus on superior member experience.

Contribute to an excellent member experience by providing member excellence together with an efficient loans service to members.

Develop local market awareness in conjunction with the Head of Lending/Business Development Officer

Establish relationships with local businesses and community organisations

Assist in developing lending policy, lending strategy and loan product development, including identifying and implementing process efficiencies within the lending team, and improvements to administration practices.

Provide training, coaching and guidance to the wider credit union staff team, and contribute to loan underwriting and decision-making, particularly in relation to more complex loan applications

Support the activities of the credit committee, which will involve attendance at credit committee meetings and producing reports as required

Ongoing liaison with the wider CU team, including the management team, credit control, operations and marketing functions

Understand and deliver on compliance requirements in all situations and ensure procedures and compliance necessities including AML and GDPR are adhered to.

The Person:

Progressive, solution focussed & flexible, with a proven track record of working on own initiative

Minimum 5 years previous lending experience, with previous experience in Mortgage & SME lending essential

A relevant financial services lending qualification, such as APA loans and/or QFA (or equivalent)

Excellent interpersonal, communication & member engagement skills, and a clear understanding of what great member experience is & how it is delivered.

Strong knowledge of financial & other appropriate regulations

Attention to detail to ensure that the Credit Union meets its responsibilities as a regulated entity & gets it right first time for the member

Strong people skills, with the ability to coach, mentor and guide the development of colleagues within the lending team, and to work effectively with other team members

Satisfy current ‘minimum competence’ requirements for lending as set by the Central Bank of Ireland for the credit union sector and be willing to undertake further training to achieve those requirements that may be updated/amended from time to time.
