The Senior Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and sells Bank mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals. In this on-going sales role, the Senior Mortgage Loan Officer continually identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. A Senior Mortgage Loan Officer’s network may consist of Real Estate professionals, Builders, professional and personal contacts, as well as other valuable referral sources, and is enhanced by the Senior Mortgage Loan Officer’s regular participation in business related development opportunities, community efforts to promote homeownership and professional organizations. The MLO responds to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated from both their own contacts and from other Salem Five business lines. The MLO conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advice customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines, and gather any additional required information. The MLO ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics, complying with all Federal and State compliance policies and adhering to HMDA requirements.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

• Develops and maintains successful relationships with business referral sources, existing and prospective.
• Prospects new mortgage lending opportunities.
• Meets with customers as necessary during various stages of the loan process.
• Utilizes Salem Five training materials, reference tools and other resources to provide accurate and up-to-date loan program/policy information to both external customers and internal business partners.
• Provides complete loan applications to loan processors.
• Ensures exceptional customer experience by overseeing loan process from origination to close and providing on-going communication to customers and business partners.
• Consistently achieve and exceed sales goals through active prospecting and solicitation from referral resources.
• Originate applications in accordance with company policy, compliance, and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of assigned market/territory to facilitate the development of an annual sales plan, which will focus on current and/or emerging sales opportunities.
• Oversees and ensures successful completion of all assigned Mortgage Loan Officer Training activities.
• Compliance with banking laws and regulations as defined in company policies and procedures pertinent to position.
• Regular attendance is essential to this position.
• Provide an outstanding Customer Experience to Salem Five customers and prospects.
• Be able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency with Salem Five’s digital technology offering.
• Proficient with mobile smart phones and downloading applications. This includes the basics of texting, email and application management.
• Proficient utilizing desktop applications such as MS Office (Excel, Word, Exchange).
• Proficient utilizing the Internet (mobile and desktop) to search and locate information.
• Embrace new and emerging technologies to support operations and customers through flexibility and the ability to learn and adapt to change.
• Assist sales management with recruiting of new originators.
• Serve as mentor for new hired originators.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  5 – 7 years of Mortgage sales experience required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS – Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
