Requirement to work on-site at the Credit Union. Occasional remote working considered.
 
Remuneration:                Salary range: €40,000-€50,000 DOE

Palmerstown Credit Union, a progressive and dynamic not-for-profit organisation in West Dublin, is seeking a highly motivated, experienced loan/business development officer.
 
The person will have a lending authority for loan approvals. The person will also support the continued growth of the Credit Union by evaluating and developing current and evolving opportunities across the full range of credit union activities; including member services, lending, product development, building new and expanding existing business relationships and opportunities, and the promotion of all aspects of the Credit Union in an efficient and effective manner. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting active membership and lending growth. This may change in time depending on business needs.

Main Duties:

Assess credit applications including personal, mortgage applications and potentially business applications’

  • Review borrower’s ability to repay.
  • Assembling the paperwork associated with the application.
  • Review credit reports.
  • Analyse applicant’s financial circumstances.
  • Conduct stress tests as required.
  • Contacting members relating to ongoing applications / decision outcomes.
  • Reviewing applications to extend / reschedule agreements.
  • Processing loan and overdraft applications using Progress Banking and Visualyse systems.
  • Ensure all available business development opportunities are fully explored and developed.
  • Design and implement strategies to ensure the achievement of growth objectives.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of credit union products and services, members needs and competitor offerings.
  • Contribute to the Development of a marketing strategy both traditional and online.
  • Develop information literature and online content to educate and promote the services of the credit union.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with individuals, groups and businesses.
  • Develop formal and informal links with employers, schools, voluntary and statutory bodies and other organisations.
  • Develop policies and procedures in relation to the provision of new and existing services.
  • Ongoing training and development of staff to ensure the professional delivery of products and services.
  • Organise and attend promotional and event activities.
  • Serve as a member and co-ordinate activities of Committees as required.
  • Report to Management Team on business growth activities and metrics.
  • Comply with all PCU policies and procedures.
  • Administrative duties associated with the work of the team.
  • To prioritise all tasks required to be completed according to their urgency.
  • Keep lending procedures up to date and making recommendations for improvements on an ongoing basis.
  • Dealing with external providers and representative bodies.
  • Working collectively with peers and team members.
  • Any other related duties, which may be requested by the management or by the Board of Directors from time to time.

  • Previous relevant experience in a result driven business development role.
  • Provide mentoring & coaching to peers and new staff.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets, can prioritise tasks under pressure.
  • Willingness to be flexible and take on new tasks and projects.
  • Achieve and maintain qualifications under the Minimum Competency Code (MCC) as set out by the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Partake in the fitness & probity requirements for credit union officers as set out by the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Good information technology skills.
  • A clean driver’s licence.
 
Requirements:
  • Must satisfy Minimum Competency Qualification in line with the requirements of the Central Bank of Irelands Minimum Competency Code.
  • Comprehensive knowledge with 3 years’ relevant lending experience.
  • Previous Business Development experience required.
  • Credit Union experience a distinct advantage.
     
    Other Qualifications
  • A relevant third level or professional qualification an advantage
